and densely programmed fractal groove sequences. He has worked with
Steve Roach on a number of releases as well as
with Ma Ja Le on Imaginarium which was produced by Roach at the Timeroom.
James Johnson is founder of the Zero Music label and webpage.
His sound as a solo artist has evolved over the past decade or so from his roots in more abrasive organic
soundscapes made from field recordings into a more subtle, atmospheric approach. From his
early beginnings with sound artists Illusion of Safety
to his more recent solo works and collaborations on Hypnos and
Dark Duck Records, James Johnson continues to blaze a trail all
his own.
